New Release: DataGrid formatting and Lock/Unlock Actions

Hey there!

New week brings new release: 1.0 RC2 b10 . If you already installed build 9, you should automatically be notified about this release. However, here are the two main updates presented in detail.

DataGrid Formattings

I am so excited about this! You can now format the entire DataGrid or, more fine grained, format each cell individually. First type of formatting is available in the Properties bar when selecting one or more DataGrid components.

The second type of formatting, at cell level, is more powerful and I’ll describe it in detail. In short, these are the formatting options available right now:

  • Text: *bold* for bold, /italic/ for italic and _underline_ for underline.
  • Web link: [http://google.com] for http://google.com.
  • Images: {image_name} for a little icon on left side of the cell. Use the same names as in the icon library, for instance when choosing the icon for a button, all icons have their name as a tooltip.
  • Checkboxes: Use [x] or [X] or [] anywhere in the cell content for getting a checkbox

Here is a screen shot of the facts:

Component Lock/Unlock Actions

This is also something I believe you’ll find useful: For instance, when putting few Rectangles to denote page areas, you’ll want those areas set in place and then locked while working on what comes on them. You’ll want to be able to select components above them, move and resize etc., without the need to pay attention to the background components. Well, now you are able to do just that. You have the Lock/Unlock actions available in the Context menu. Enjoy!

Lock/Unlock Components

This should be all for now. I think I’ll get back to you with more updates later this week. Stay tuned! :-)
